Privacy and Service Information

Overview

This page explains which external services support chen-liu.com and when information is sent to them. The public website does not use an advertising network, a comment system, or first-party visitor analytics.

Website hosting

This is a static website hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub states that visitors’ IP addresses are logged and stored for security purposes. GitHub’s handling of that information is described in its General Privacy Statement.

The public site stores a light-or-dark theme preference in the browser’s local storage. It does not use that preference to identify visitors.

Optional homepage features

The homepage displays current Glasgow weather supplied by Open-Meteo. The request contains the fixed coordinates for Glasgow, not the visitor’s location.

The visitor map is collapsed by default. It runs only when a visitor chooses to open it. The browser then requests an approximate IP-based location from ipapi and map tiles from OpenStreetMap. The result is displayed in the visitor’s browser; this website’s code does not save the lookup result.

CV requests and direct contact

The CV request form prepares an email in the visitor’s own email application. It does not submit the form to a website database. Information is sent only if the visitor chooses to send the prepared email, after which the email providers used by the sender and recipient process the message.

PaperMove

PaperMove is a private, invitation-only research workspace available through this website. Its authentication, database, and private file storage services are provided by Supabase. Transactional account emails, including invitations and password recovery messages, are delivered by Resend.

Information entered into PaperMove is therefore processed by these providers to operate the service. PaperMove requires multifactor authentication and uses per-user database and file-storage access controls. Users should not upload information they are not authorised to store with these services.

PaperMove account sessions are maintained by Supabase in the browser so that authenticated users can access their private workspace. Signing out clears the active session from the application.

External links and embedded resources

Links to external profiles and services are governed by those services’ own policies. Fonts and selected interface resources may also be downloaded from Google Fonts, jsDelivr, cdnjs, or unpkg when required by a page.
